Cut into the cliff
The gorge road links Villard-de-Lans and Pont-en-Royans over about 24 km. It opened in 1872, after eleven years of work.
It runs under overhanging rock, high above the river. Before you set off, check the road conditions on the Isère Département website.

Le Bournillon, La Goule Noire, Choranche
The Bournillon cave mouth is one of the largest in Europe. At the Goule Noire bridge, the Vercors' underground water comes back to the surface as a spring.
The Choranche cave can be visited with a guide, for its thousands of fine stalactites. At the end of the gorges, Pont-en-Royans and its hanging houses.

On foot or by car
The chalet is 13 minutes from the gorges. Trails also start from the village, such as the Pas de l'Allier and Pas des Voûtes loop, with a viewpoint above the gorges. See all the outings around the chalet.
