Le Bouquetin · The Vercors
The Vercors
A massif of cliffs, plateaus and forests. The chalet is in Saint-Julien-en-Vercors, on the Drôme side.

A nature park since 1970
The Vercors Regional Nature Park was created in 1970. It covers about 200,000 hectares between the Drôme and the Isère.
To the south lie the Hauts-Plateaux, a national nature reserve since 1985. The Grand Veymont, at 2,341 m, is its highest point.

The Vercors maquis
In the summer of 1944, the Vercors maquis rose up against the occupying forces, and the reprisals were brutal.
The Resistance Memorial in Vassieux-en-Vercors tells this story. Closer to the chalet, the Cour des fusillés in La Chapelle-en-Vercors is a place of remembrance. See the villages around the chalet.

Blue cheese, cows and seasons
Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage is the massif's cheese, with AOP status since 2001. The milk comes partly from the Villarde, the Villard-de-Lans breed of cow.
In winter, cross-country skiing at Herbouilly and downhill at Villard-de-Lans. The rest of the year, the Bourne gorges and walks around the chalet.
